Livesay A Release Paths

Livesay Correctional Institution A Camp is an SCDC minimum-out male institution. “Minimum-out” is a custody classification, not a statement that a person has been discharged. SCDC describes work and pre-release programming at the facility, along with Jumpstart reentry programming. The Livesay grounds have also hosted an SCDPPPS restitution center. That local mix makes status terms especially important because lower security, work activity, pre-release preparation, and residential supervision can all occur before the state sentence or supervision jurisdiction fully ends.

An actual exit from the prison unit may be a completed SCDC discharge, parole, supervised reentry, transfer, or movement into another institution or program. A movement entry within SCDC does not equal community release. Nor does a move to the restitution center mean unconditional discharge. Check the release type exactly as SCDC reports it, then use SCDPPPS records when the person remains under parole, probation, mandatory release, or another form of state supervision.

Confirm Livesay A Discharge

South Carolina uses two different public SCDC tools. The current SCDC offender search displays people currently sentenced to and incarcerated by SCDC, with information stated as of the previous midnight. It excludes released offenders and does not preserve a lasting “Released” profile. Before release, it can show the current institution, SCDC ID, SID, offense and sentence details, movements, credit levels, `PROJECTED RELEASE DATE`, `PROJECTED PAROLE ELIGIBILITY`, and `SUP. REENTRY ELIGIBILITY`. Those three future-facing fields answer different questions.

For an event that has already happened, use the separate SCDC Released Inmate Search. It requires a release-date-from value, release-date-to value, and county choice. Select Spartanburg only when Spartanburg is the committing county. That field does not prove that release occurred at Livesay A, that the person lives in Spartanburg, or that the person went to a Spartanburg address. Match the name with the SCDC ID or SID whenever possible and read the release type without replacing it with a broader label.

1. Search the current SCDC tool if the person may still be incarcerated and confirm identity by SCDC ID or SID.
2. If release is believed complete, choose a realistic date range in the released-inmate form and search the committing county.
3. Match name, SCDC ID or SID, release date, most serious offense, and release type.
4. Check SCDPPPS offender search if parole or other supervision may continue.
5. Request the SCDC discharge record when the public grid is not enough documentary proof.

Livesay A Released Search Fields

The released grid is a date-and-county search, not a global name locator. Its results include SCDC ID, name, SID, sex, race, age, victim and detainer indicators, sex-offender indicator, release date, release type, county, and most serious offense. Live research examples included `PROBATION`, `SUPV RE-ENTRY`, and `COMMUNITY SUPV`, but those examples are not a complete code list. Preserve the exact result because each term may point to a different supervising authority and set of conditions.

The county column is easy to misuse. It reflects committing county. A person confined at Livesay A may have been committed by any South Carolina county, and a Spartanburg commitment can be served at an SCDC institution elsewhere. Search by the known date range and correct commitment history, then use SCDC records to confirm the exit institution when that detail matters. The public released grid does not carry a normal booking-photo column and should not be presented as a full prison file.

Livesay A Supervision Check

SCDPPPS supervises probation, parole, and mandatory-release programs. Search its statewide form by allowed combinations of first and last name, SID, county, and year of birth. Results represent the previous day, and someone whose supervision ended may no longer appear. A positive match can support a finding that the person left prison into community supervision. A negative result does not prove the person is incarcerated, fully discharged, or never supervised.

South Carolina VINE can provide a custody-change lead and notification, but it is not the certified release order. Re-register after an agency transfer because registration does not automatically follow a person between systems. Verify any notice against the SCDC released record and SCDPPPS status.

Note: A positive supervision record supports post-prison oversight, while a missing result cannot establish that all state jurisdiction has ended.

Specify Livesay A as the believed releasing institution without assuming that a movement from that unit was final discharge.

The SCDC Legal Information page lists fees of $0.10 for a black-and-white page, $0.25 for a color page, and $18.95 per hour for search, retrieval, or redaction, subject to change. South Carolina FOIA states that electronic records do not carry a per-copy charge, though labor can apply. Ask for a fee estimate. A concise request should seek the releasable record that states release date, release type, releasing institution, and any public transfer or supervision information. Do not ask the county jail for a Livesay A prison discharge merely because the facility is located in Spartanburg County. SCDC is the records custodian for state prison custody.

Livesay A Pre-Release History

Livesay A opened in 1982 and was known as Livesay Pre-Release Center before July 2007. The prior name and current work and reentry programs explain why the facility is closely tied to transition planning. They do not create a special county release record. The person remains in the state correctional framework until SCDC records a release type or movement, and supervision may continue with SCDPPPS after physical prison custody ends.

The on-premises restitution-center history adds another Spartanburg-specific distinction. A person can remain geographically near Livesay while changing from an SCDC prison placement to structured residential supervision. That transition may look like “release” in casual speech, yet it is not unconditional sentence discharge. Read the agency name, location, release code, and supervision record together. That approach prevents a program move from being mistaken for the end of state authority.
